Martin family attorney, Jasmine Rand, claims that she is a ‘social engineer.’ Yes, you read that correctly! In an interview with On The Record’s, Greta van Susteren, Rand claims that she has “a greater duty beyond being an attorney, and that’s to be a social engineer.”
The phrase ‘social engineer’ disturbed me quite a bit. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as the “management of human beings in accordance with their place and function in society.” That doesn’t sound to bad does it? Guess again!
‘Social engineering’ is really the act of influencing a person to accomplish goals that may or may not be in the “target’s” best interest. To me the term really stands for social manipulation. Filling the minds of people with things that may or may not be fact so that they will fight for a certain cause.
Maybe ‘social engineering’ has been at play throughout the entire Zimmerman trial. Not only by Ms. Rand, but by others, such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. The mainstream media is also guilty of the same thing.
People like Jasmine Rand, ‘socially engineered’ members of the African-American community to believe that the Zimmerman trial involved civil rights’ at its core. That way when the case went south they (the Martin family legal team) would have a large portion of the United States population behind them so they would be able to successfully protest the the not guilty verdict.
‘Social engineering’ may be a good tool a times but like anything else it can be abused for personal and/or political gains at the cost of others. Unfortunately, this seems to be in use post-verdict of the Zimmerman trial.
